Lindsey Bridge Dam was constructed in late 1960s for purpose of pooling water for the Town of Madison and provided a water intake for the town. The beach area below the dam has been a local gathering spot for swimming, sun bathing, fishing, kayaking and canoeing for decades.

The M-M Recreation Department has hosted the Dan River Boat Race for years. It has always started below the Lndsey Bridge Dam and usually has a large turnout from people all over the state. This is usually held in August. Click Here to see their Facebook page for more information.
A couple shots taken in October 2020 with the construction taking place of the new Madison River Park. The top of the original dam was removed and filled in with rocks. The lower part of the dam is still under the water. This allowed the water levels to gradually go down over a series of seven rapids.
This is a privately owned website and is not connected with the Town of Madison, N.C.
The site was developed to help promote the Madison River Park and the local area
as well as having a place to share photos from the park and other scenes by Albert Cardwell.
